For years, Women of Sacred Heart has delivered Christmas gift bags to Catholics and others who live at the seven long-term care facilities that are assigned to our parish.  The gift bags are comprised of donations by us as well as beautiful creations made by the Prayer Shawl Ministry.  The Matthew 25 ministry delivers the gift bags in December. Many parishioners are on vacation this summer. If you are staying in a hotel or resort, and personal-size body lotions, shampoo, dental floss are part of your stay, the Sacred Heart Rosary Makers/Military will be most grateful that you donate the supplies you do not need. We are not currently accepting conditioner. As you may know, for twenty years, this ministry has been sending 200 military “kits” a year for use in combat locations. We will appreciate your help. Our Adoration Ministry is seeking new Adorers willing to spend an hour per week in Jesus’ Presence. Being in Jesus’ Real Presence is an intimate opportunity to thank Jesus for His many blessings, and ask for His Guidance so we can make great decisions in our lives. We all need that. October 21, Saturday, 2023 in Raleigh The Diocese of Raleigh Eucharistic Congress opens a year of diocesan-wide celebrations marking the upcoming 100th anniversary of the Diocese in 2024. “The day-long event, to be held at the Raleigh Convention Center, incorporates speakers and activities for adults and youth.” Please begin considering if you would like to attend, or if you are willing to be a team leader for a group of students from Sacred Heart. Sacred Heart will have some bus transportation to the Convention Center as well as individual cars/drivers. The Women of Sacred Heart presented Louise Kennedy, pictured above, at left, with President Nancy Heilman, with the Volunteer Award, given annually to recognize members for their volunteer service to the church and community. Kennedy is active in leadership roles within Women of Sacred Heart, where she is responsible for the raffle that is part of the annual White Elephant Sale, and chair of their hospitality committee. She is also responsible for the Family Promise program, sponsored by Sacred Heart Catholic Church in cooperation with Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Southern Pines. Kennedy is a longtime volunteer with Habitat for Humanity Restore, Given Memorial Library and, more recently, she became a volunteer with the new FirstHealth Cancer Center. Congratulations, Louise.

Thank you to Family Promise for a very enjoyable Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon. It was a pleasure to join with volunteers from Sacred Heart and other Church groups and celebrate all we do to support struggling Moms and their children as they transition from homelessness to independence. It was a very uplifting event.

Mexican Dinner at Founders Hall Saturday, May 20, 2023 - DINNER STARTS AT 5:30 PM Thanks to the loyal support of so many at our March Mexican dinner, the San Juan Diego (SJD) Youth raised nearly $6,500.
